My Msn live messenger trouble?

I upgraded to the latest version 8.1 I beleive and now it wont let me sign in. It says it cannot connect t0 to the service. It says my firewall is blocking it, but I turned it off that didn't work so I turned it back on and set msn messenger as an exception, but it still wont let me log in. it's not just that it isn't working today because it's been this way for 2 weeks. I've tried uninstallling it and reinstalling it nothing works! Anyone have any Ideas?

I've had this problem in the past on this computer.

You must have Zone Alarm Firewall? you need to open your firewall and fix it so that it accepts MSN mess. if you dont' even if you disable it, it's still not going to let you connect.

Another thing, if you are running windows xp. that firewall thats built right into xp can be stopping it, you need to adjust your xp firewall so it's not so high.
