you don't need to get windows 2000 off in order to install it again. the new install will write over the old installation.

You can partition the HD and load XP on the partition or drive. once loaded, format the other drive with 2000 on it. XP Home Edition requires a license for only 2-3 loads. You can get the professional version with unlimited loads. You can also format the drive, but you need a rescue disk to run the cd rom and load XP. I loaded Win 98, then replaced it with XP. (Another way).

It's illegal to ask such questions on Yahoo Answers.

I suggest you use Yahoo Search for that.

You boot from an XP cd in the bios, the xp cd will format the hard drive, and install xp

If you want too completely wipe the computer(Lose all Data) on the system, you can boot to the new XP Home CD (meaning put the disc in the drive, restart the computer, it will tell you to press any key to boot from CD) Press any key. It will go through a setup process(Blue background). Then you will have to choose to install windows, then it will ask which partition you want to use. At this point, you can choose the one you already have windows on, and format the partition. It will go through this process, may take some time depending on the size of your hard drive. When it's done, it will run another setup process, then reboot automatically. When it reboots dont press any key. It will boot to the actual windows XP setup. Follow the on-screen instructions, and you will be up and going. It will reboot a couple times, each time, remember to NOT press any key. If you do it will take you right back into the setup process. Hope this helps.
