Sound works on some programs but not others?

I have sound on Media Player and on some web sites that have music players, but nothing comes out when on programs like Bodog or Solitaire. When I adjust the volume I don't hear a confirmation sound like it used to. Problem just started a couple of days ago. Any ideas?

have you checked all setting in the programs and volume control? make sure they are up to full capacity
