PLEASE, I need help with a computer virus blocker?

My computer is infected with viruses, and I had to do system restore to get it back to normal. I use firefox, but while I'm using firefox, internet explorer windows carrying pop ups open up many times and my computer gets really slowed down. Where can I download a free virus blocker online that is effective and will work.

System Restore was never intended to be used for malware removal of any kind. It must always be used with caution and the restore point (date) must be chosen very carefully.

The chances are good that you ended up RESTORING some spyware that you had previously removed.

Sure, System Restore MIGHT be able to remove some recent spyware, but at the same time it is likely to re-infect your computer with some older spyware.

Obviously, using system restore did not work in your case, as you are still getting excessive pop-ups.

For your anti-virus needs, I would suggest Avira AntiVir® PersonalEdition Classic. It has excellent heuristics, a virus detection rate that is better than most "paid-for" anti-virus programs and is light on using your computer's resources. And did I mention that it's free!

update it and run a full scan with it to remove the infection and hopefully stop your pop-ups.

BTW, Avoid the free version of an anti-virus called AVG, it is wildly popular, but it has horrible virus detection capibilities.
