My company is currently in the process of "re-inventing" our affiliate program. At the moment, we allow affiliates to either take a commission on the sales they make, offer a discount to people who use their affiliate links, or a combination of the 2.
For example, commission = 20% of all sales made from their links. Discount = 20% savings for anyone using their links. Combo = 10% commission for them, and 10% for the people who follow their links.
If you were an affiliate, which option would you be most likely to choose? Would anyone want to use the discount and/or combo options, or is everyone just interested in getting as much commission as possible?
Basically, does it make sense to continue to provide potential affiliates with the discount/combo options? Or should we only offer the commission option.
