You can check Compaq's website for your computer specs. It should give you expansion card options. Check to see if it has either an AGP or PCI-Express graphics slot.

The video card that's good for you depends on what you are going to be using it for. You'll probably want to go with a GT card. I have a nVidia 7600GT pci-express card and it's worked great for me. I do a little gaming (lotr, cnc, wow, cs)and video and have had no problems.
