Is pay-per-click search advertising really that effective?

It seems like some other methods of advertising (sponsorship. blogging, etc) are proving more effective. I'm not sure what the point of spending $100s is, if I'm not getting fantastic results.

PPC is very effective IF you choose the right keywords and write effective ads. The single thing that is the most important is Keyword research. The best thing about PPC advertising is the traffic starts very quickly sometimes it just takes a few minutes to begin getting traffic. Keywords is the key.
