Ok the best thing to do is to remove your java application in add/remove programs found in control panel. Then restart your computer

Once that is done go to
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Then click free java download
Be sure to click install when the windows security window pops up
You may need to right click on the white bar that appears in internet explorer under the address bar and allow any plugins!

Hope this helps

You may need to activate Active X

If you are using IE and in the administrator's account, follow these steps to enable Active X.

- Select Tools, then Internet Options from the menu at the top of the Internet Explorer window. The Internet Options window will appear.
- Select Security from the list of tabs at the top of the Internet Options window. The Security tab will appear.
- Select the Custom Level button. The Security Settings window will appear.
- Scroll down to the Download signed ActiveX controls entry and select the prompt radio button.
- Scroll down to the Run ActiveX controls and plugins entry and select the enabled radio button.
- Select the OK button to accept the changes

You may need to reboot for the settings to stick.

Then try following the steps below to see if you can get the most recent version of Java

Problems can occur if you are running more than one version of Java as they can cause conflicts with each other. Furthermore, Java has a nasty habit of not removing older versions when updating to the newest so you have to uninstall old versions manually.

Assuming that you are in the Administrator account, go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and uninstall everything that says J2SE, Java and Java Runtime. Reboot (some computers require a reboot to complete the uninstall process). Then go to the site below and download the most recent version of Java.

Afterwards, in IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab and scroll down to the Java section and tickmark the "Use 1.6.2 (version changes with each update) for applet". Click Apply, Click OK and reboot (a reboot is required for some computers for the settings to stick).

If you are using Firefox, again check to make sure that no older versions are listed in Add/Remove Programs and then install it from the webpage below.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7

Then go to Tools > Options > Content > Enable Java
