does that mean? in the matrix, what is the problem neo is referring to.

he is refering to the fact that all his memories he thaught was real but when he was unplugged from matrix he realised that his memories werent real they were only computer generated. so they never happened in real life. make sense?

Ummm he was living a dream and he has memories of that life but he realizes that it wasn't real...did you watch the movies?
That the world he grew up in existed only in his mind, none of it ever actually happened.

The fact his memories are simply what the owners of the matrix have allowed him to have.
His life has been a lie, all in his head.
