I clicked on a link called thecoolpics.com(please dont click on it).

These are the troubles caused by the virus:
1.From then my default homepage is thecoolpics.com and another advertisement window is also opening.
2.I cannot change the homepage since the option is disabled.
when i press Ctrl+Alt+Del it throughs error "Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator"
3.There is no "Run" in start menu. it disappeared.
4.when i clcik on registry it throws error "Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator".

I am using windows XP professional and its my own home pc.
there is no other admin for it.
Please consider the above error messages and suggest me a good solution. I will really be very thankful to you..

goto accessories -system tools-system restore and choose a date be4 the infection,,, if that doesnt work , i would usually format c:\ and re-install windows,,,its a pain but guarantees 100% no virus residuals and a fresh system , if u donno how to do that , download a good antivirus and anti spyware and firewall ,,, zonealarm provides all 3 in 1 ,, u can get a limited time free trial,,, it will lead u to the source and u can manually delete it if the program doesnt ,,good luck

i suggest that you buy a McAfee anti-virus software.
one thing more, try to download a site advisor from mcafee at www.siteadvisor.com and also tests some web site to want mcafee to test. I have tested that website and found links to ns1.hosting101.biz/~metalurg, which we found to be a distributor of downloads some people consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs which is bad. In the survey, 4 voters says it contains addware, spyware, viruses Also 2 voters says it contains browser exploits.
