Norton Systemworks Premier is my choice and I use PC tools' SpyDoctor for spyware, adware, malware removal.
There are many good ones so it really comes down to your preference. Most anti-virus software has a trial period, so you can test them out and see if they suit your needs.
There are also various (free) online anti-virus programs and anti-spy/mal/adware out there.

i think norton and zone alram is best one:)
AVG for anitvirus is free, and Zonealarm is a good firewall. Just disable XP's own firewall if using Zonealarm.

nothing will get rid of everything.. norton or mcafee. Even they probably only get like 60% of stuff made.

I've had very good success with these programs
AVG Free Antivirus. At the same location Ewido Anti-Spyware.
Free Firewall - Comodo Personal Firewall
I also use McAfee SiteAdvisor to avoid the bad websites
