HTML vs XHTML

Which do you prefer, HTML or XHTML? simple html 4.01 is considered outdated nowadays, no respected design company would even suggest to make an HTML 4,01 site to a client... do u think it's really all that good?

Good old html is the best by a mile i think, its fool proof and so easy to use.

I mainly use HTML because I don't have time to mess with validated XHTML. If I were designing a high traffic site though, I would use it because it makes file sizes smaller.
