Search Engine Optimization? Please help...?

I'm trying to get a site up for a friend and want it to be able to be found by search engines. How do I even begin to do that?

You can submit them to search engines using the link I provided below. You will receive confirmation emails afterwards which you will need to check (if you have hotmail, check your junk mail as they sometimes end up there). Not all the submissions will be successful. I usually get a few failed ones. Theres some that the emails require you to sign up for something, I just ignore those ones but the ones that send emails that just say "click here to confirm" I usually click on them and after it says "comfirmation confirmed you have sucessfully submitted to ***" or something along those lines.
