I have a nvidia 7900 gt graphics card. An intel core 2 duo E6600.
A Realtek onboard sound card. Wireless internet adapter. Will all this still work if i upgrade to vista?. Is it worth upgrading?

Based on he information you provided, Vista should run fine. I have been running the pre-release versions of Vista since June 2006 and am delighted. There is a learning curve as it is very different to XP, but the security is excellent. I have deliberately visited sites that come loaded with spy-ware and it has all been blocked except for low threat cookies etc.
Move on and be ahead of the game and you will know Vista when all these overly cautious people eventually trust Vista.
You didn't say haw much RAM your had. I am running on 1.5 gig and it works fine. Give yourself an edge and up your RAM to 2 gig as I am a little slow when running multiple applications.
Good luck!

Vista will work well with your hardware. But the programs you love in XP may not run smooth in Vista. At least not at this moment. I have a Vista/XP dual boot system. Apart from the first couple of days of being awed by Vista's new interface I now hardly ever boot into Vista. For now XP is the best pc o/s. Maybe a few months later...

In my opinion it's fine to upgrade as your configuration is according to it but you should consult some computer vendor.

it wise not to become a Tech pioneer

Wait at least 6 months for the big bugs to be ironed out and security holes patched, the we mere mortals can join in

Don't expect everything to work. You could try. Is it worth paying for Vista?
