Windows vista?

I just got a new HP laptop & cannot play the dvd player or any cds in the cd/dvd drive.I tried an update,rolled it back to the day I brought it home(when it worked).Anything else I should do?

Yes...either contact HP or go to their website and put in your serial number on their website. This is a known bug that requires a registry key to be changed.

About 3 weeks ago I was working on a client's new HP with Vista and the CD drive wasn't working at all. I did a lookup on HP's website and it provides full instructions to change the appropriate registry key. After I did that, it worked great!
