msn "live messenger" problem?

Hi.
This problem might be difficult to explain but here goes:-

I'm logged in, online and showing as online.

My friend is logged in, online and showing as online.

Here is the problem. Neither of us are showing to be online to the other. When we click on the others lane it says we are offline.

Please help as this is don' me 'ed in.

MSN is and always has been REALLY bad at showing "true" statuses.
I was chatting with one friend when he suddenly disappeared offline!
I think this is why they have brought in the ability to chat with friends even whilst you are set to appear as offline in the latest version (8+)

So - you're not alone - but they don't appear to be in a hurry to fix the problem!
