sound card?

i can't install my sound card. i've got my drivers & i have installed them but there's still no sound.... the wi9ndows help gives me all sorts of crappy ideas but none of them actually works... do you have any ideas? what should i do... the thing that worries mi is that my computer(well that one at least) is 5 or six years old.... any ideas? 10x!

If you are positive you have the correct drivers and you have tried everything, and I mean everything. Consider buying yourself a new soundcard which will come with the correct drivers. no doubt.Or if resources are high consider buying a new computer.

you may have frayed wire and disconnected from sounds chip

Have you tried downgrading the drivers? You should've been more specific about what kinda card it is! Im guessing you've looked for the anwser on the manufacture's website?
