i think u r asking about the development of the field,if that so simply i can say from dos based prince of Persia to 3d prince of Persia,olden days multimedia meant for media only, that means printing,games , film, radio but nowadays it established in forensic,aerospace,medical etc etc and it is still expanding.the opportunities lots are there.
