Help with Windows, stuck in a loop at the start window.?

So I'm trying to fix a computer for someone, and it seems to be locked and stuck in a loop. it shows the welcome screen with the accounts then when I log into one it asks if I wish to activate windows. When I click on yes it starts windows normally for about 2 seconds before booting it out into the welcome screen again. Repeat.. I think it is locked since the owner of the computer kept on pressing no to activate windows...I would install windows all over for them but she doesn't want to lose her files. Is there anyway I can get around this, or rid of this lock so it'll work normally again?

I would put the Windows CD in the ROM and restart the computer. This should give you the option to repair the installation without losing any previously saved info. Without the activation, she will not be able to get any of the needed security updates, and should be avoided at all costs if she uses it on the Net. Hope this helps
