MSN Live Messenger trouble, please help me?

When I chat on the messenger with my friends, sometimes I couldn't receive the message from them or they couldn't receive message from me. I tried the Windows Messenger, and it does the same thing. I don't know if it's my computer's fault or my messenger's fault. I thought the problem will be fix after i update the messenger to the 2008 version, but it's still the same way. Please help me because this problem happened to me for several months, and it totally stress me out.

or, if that doesn't sound like a good idea,
go to "start,control panel,add/remove programs,windows live messenger" and click "remove" to uninstall it. Then re-install it, that's what i'd do if i were u...
