do i need to install a sound card if i buy a lcd monitor for my computer

no. You only need a sound card to power speakers. You need a video card for your monitor.

Hi there.Sound cards have nothing to do with your monitor. PC's normally have sound cards built into the motherboard of the pc. If the sound is working now it should work with the new monitor.

If your sound and video are working fine with a regular monitor, then you do not need any additional hardware to get a new LCD monitor connected to your computer. Your video card will either have a blue VGA 15-pin or a white DVI 24-pin connector. Obviously, your new LCD monitor would need to have the corresponding connectors.
