My friend told me to look at the chalkboard because he said my teacher spelled defense wrong. he said its spelled with a c, but i always thought it was spelled with an s. ex: the defense shut them down. does it matter which way you spell it? or does it come down to what way you're using it in?

It depends on where you live. In the UK it is spelled "defence" and in the US it is spelled "defense".http://www2.gsu.edu/~wwwesl/egw/jones/differences.htm
