Can someone give me an answer to make msn live messenger 8.1 work with my new vista?

I install it and it stops at 99%, evry time, i do have dial up but i dont think thats an issue. I have a brand new computer and i need to make it work, does anyone have any tips? i will appreciate anything posted, except spam

I have vista and 8.1 they both work,but i had to shut off firewall and Norton's anti virus. then i had to remove all messenger 8.1 that i tried to install and then reinstall and that worked for me. or i just lucked into something and don't know what i done but try that and see for yourself.
