How do I get rid of the sound that indicates checking my mail on AIM messenger?

I do not want the box that indicates whether or not I have mail on AIM. I have gotten rid of the box, but the sound still remains. Does anyone know how to get rid of the sound? Thanks. I have a Dell computer--Windows XP.

You cna't it is in Java programming that aol has however as long as you don't want any sound from the internet mute your wave channel in your sound options. It will not compltely mute to your whole computer.
