well...its like search crawlers search over the network.
You dont need to list in search engines,though you can do things to bring ur page higher among the results by following some guidelines.
Also you can use google webmaster tools to check how well placed your pages are in the internet.And how well can it be accessed from a search.

Another way is to pay the search engines and get a premium spot as advertisement or tag on the search.
