Why do you get answers to search on google or yahoo or other search engines?

I do search before I ask a question my question(s). Even this question I searched for first but could not find any answers.

Some people want their 2 points but are too lazy to find the answer for you.

I sometimes have the answer in my head before answering a question, but will use a search engine in case I don't have it or when having to verify the information before doing so.

Sometimes the answer may be too long and the answerer may just want you to read it for your own benefit.
