i have an icon on my task bar titled SQL SERVER what is this and do i need it or can i get rid of it

its just youir service pack you should have sql server 2005-2007 its very much needed to see html and keep trojan away and mollicious software and adware it's also gives you ie7 downlload it. you need it

it means the SQL Server agent Process is running. SQL Server is database management software. I'm assuming your computer is running the client software. You might want to ask the previous owner as MS SQL server software is very expensive.You can disable right clicking on the sys tray icon (sql server). Shut it down.You can also go to computer management -->services and applications -->look for anything MSSQL Server, change the startup type to disable.Or go to add/remove programs, uninstall SQL Server.
