- need practical simple to use tips

- please do mention URLS of sites if you mention them

Added:

- yup I know that free is less quality than paid!

- my first couple of sites has great content and presently have a rank of 4/10 and 3/10 respectively

- my new site is still sitting at 0/10 - it has quality content and an interactive community and quite a lot of visitors (a few 1000 per day), but the PR doesnt budge!

To get good pagerank you need a website design thats search engine friendly, have a sitemap, and lots of one way links from quality sites. To get ranked high in Google you need good pagerank, fresh unique content, and your keywords in your meta tags, header, opening paragraph, and footer. Also its good to inlcude your keywords in your anchor text from the sites linking to you. I myself use the Internet Business Promoter software and it helps greatly. You can check it out along with other software here:

Google only updates the visible page rank once a quarter. They are not always on time, but we are within a week or two of the next "scheduled" update.

Your new site may already have page rank, but you won't be seeing green in the PageRank option of the Google Toolbar until they do another update.
