yahoo messager?

i do not want my messager to let me be reached off line. messages keep popping up as soon as you turn on the computer the messages pop up for anyone to see. How do I turn it off.

On the main sign-in module of messenger click messenger ( top left corner) then click preferences. On the box that opens click on ignore list. then change setting to ignore anyone not on my list .
