PC case modding, has anyone mounted an electric fan to the side?

I have an Xblade, I have no space for water cooling and I'm not willing to get another pc case unless it's a red samurai from alienware. So, I thought of mounting a 12 inch fan to the side of my pc case by making a plexiglass side door. PC case modding, has aSo, I'm asking...
has anyone mounted a 12" electric fan to a pc before and if so, is it any good?

It wasn't a 12" fan, but my mom's comp case has fan in the rear and a fan on the side held by Plexiglass and metal.
