Hey guys my the fan at the back of my Dell computer is so loud and fast. I realize when I shut them down for a while it doesn't go loud. Does it need cleaning? thanks...

you may want to somehow get the dust out of your sytem with things such as a gentle air compression device, or take your case off and blow it all out..

however, usully if the fan is loud its ware and tear! You'd need a new fan (quite cheap i think) - how long have you had your computer?

I assume you mean the PSU fan. They are generally loud anyway.

You can change the fan in a PSU though i have never done it. It seems quite easy.

My fan on my dell was always load too. I think it may be something with some of their fans because mine was like that from the very beginning. It's much quieter now with my custom computer I bought.

Dell try to use the cheapest hardware possible to cut costs so that could be why ;)

Not bad pc's though to be honest, it's just little things like the fan that shouldnt be done cheaply.. it ruins em

You don't need the fan, it is good to have one
my fan is loud too, many people told me, just remove it

If you remove your fan your will end up destroying some hardware as there will be no airflow.

Unless you blow on it of course.

I have a dell and the Fan was really loud. I changed the factory fitted on with a second hand one i got from my friends shop for free. Since then the Fan does not make any more noise.

As far as the PSU fan is concerned, its sound till now..
BTW i have a Dell Dimension 8300

I have a Dell that seems pretty quite. I bought a Kingston case once with about 5 fans and it sounds like the freeway. It's really loud, but keeps cool. Just got a new HP Media Center and I have to say you can't hear ANYTHING. They did an awesome job with keeping it quiet.
